LAKE RAJUPAQUINAN & LAKE 513
Are you looking for something a little more remote and wild? This adventure takes you far from the crowds, deep into the stunning highlands east of Carhuaz, where glaciers, forests, and turquoise lagoons are yours to explore.
We'll start the hike from Pampa Shonquil, where the road ends and the mountains begin. The trail winds through open highland meadows with jaw-dropping views of Mount Hualcán, leading into a beautiful quenual forest (Andean Polylepis trees). After crossing a river bridge and zigzagging up the valley, we'll reach the peaceful Lake Rajupaquinan—a true hidden gem. If you're feeling strong, we'll continue just a bit further to the breathtaking Lake 513, sitting at 4,458 meters above sea level.
