CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PROTECTION POLICY

RAMBLE PERÚ – Prevention of Child Labour and the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents

1. Our Commitment

At RAMBLE PERÚ, we believe that responsible tourism must contribute to people’s well-being, respect for human rights, and the sustainable development of local communities. We are therefore committed to protecting the integrity, dignity, and rights of all children and adolescents and to preventing any form of abuse, exploitation, violence, or violation of their rights in the course of our tourism activities.

We categorically reject child labour prohibited under Peruvian law, hazardous work by adolescents, the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, human trafficking, and any form of violence or exploitation affecting minors.

This policy applies to RAMBLE PERÚ’s management, mountain guides, staff, suppliers, transport providers, porters, cooks, commercial partners, and all other individuals involved in delivering our services. We also promote respect for these principles among our clients and business partners throughout trekking, mountaineering, nature tourism, and visits to local communities.

2. Legal Framework

This policy is based, among other applicable provisions, on the following Peruvian legislation and regulations:

  • Law No. 27337, Children and Adolescents Code, which recognizes and protects the rights of minors.
  • Law No. 29408, General Tourism Law, and its amendments, which establishes obligations for tourism service providers regarding the prevention of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.
  • Law No. 30802, which establishes conditions for the admission of children and adolescents to accommodation establishments to safeguard their protection and integrity.
  • Ministerial Resolution No. 430-2018-MINCETUR, which approves the Code of Conduct against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in the Tourism Sector and the corresponding sworn declaration.
  • Supreme Decree No. 018-2020-TR, which regulates the authorization procedure for permitted dependent employment by adolescents.
  • Supreme Decree No. 006-2026-TR, which approves the Intersectoral Protocol on Child Labour.
  • The relevant provisions of the Political Constitution of Peru, the Criminal Code, and the legislation in force concerning the prevention and punishment of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and the worst forms of child labour.

RAMBLE PERÚ is committed to complying with current Peruvian legislation and all applicable requirements governing its tourism activities and operations.

3. Prevention and Rejection of Child Labour

RAMBLE PERÚ does not employ, promote, request, or benefit from child labour prohibited under Peruvian law. No tourism activity should take place at the expense of a child’s education, health, safety, or overall development.

In particular, we undertake to:

  • Never employ or allow minors to participate in work activities prohibited by law.
  • Never hire minors to perform hazardous work or activities incompatible with their age, health, safety, or development.
  • Never allow children or adolescents to be used as load carriers, camp workers, kitchen assistants, equipment porters, or mountain workers under prohibited or hazardous conditions.
  • Verify that our suppliers and business partners do not engage in prohibited child labour and promote responsible labour practices.
  • Respect the minimum age requirements, authorizations, and other legal conditions applicable to permitted adolescent employment.
  • Promote respect for the labour rights of adults involved in our operations and avoid practices that may contribute to the exploitation of vulnerable people.

We recognize that children’s and adolescents’ participation in family, cultural, or community activities should not automatically be considered child labour. However, no custom or economic necessity justifies activities that violate their rights or endanger their well-being.

4. Prevention of the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents

RAMBLE PERÚ maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the tourism sector.

We do not allow our services, itineraries, transportation arrangements, activities, commercial relationships, or partnerships to be used to facilitate, promote, conceal, or tolerate sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, or human trafficking involving minors.

To prevent these situations, we undertake to:

  • Inform our clients and staff about the prohibition of, and legal consequences associated with, the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.
  • Reject any request for tourism services connected with sexual exploitation or intended to facilitate abuse.
  • Never promote or facilitate meetings, transportation, accommodation, or other activities intended to enable the sexual exploitation of minors.
  • Promptly report to the competent authorities any facts or reasonable indications of sexual exploitation or human trafficking that come to our attention, in accordance with applicable law.
  • Cooperate with the competent authorities in prevention, protection, and investigation efforts while safeguarding confidentiality and the integrity of potential victims.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations whenever our services involve arranging or contracting accommodation establishments.

No payment, gift, food, accommodation, promise of benefits, or exchange can justify the sexual exploitation of a minor.

5. Child Protection During Tourism Activities

At RAMBLE PERÚ, we strive to ensure that our activities take place in a safe, respectful, and violence-free environment. When our itineraries include visits to villages, schools, community spaces, or rural areas, our guides and staff must exercise particular care and respect towards children and adolescents.

Accordingly, we:

  • Respect the privacy, dignity, integrity, and rights of children and adolescents.
  • Do not tolerate harassment, intimidation, abuse, or physical, psychological, or sexual violence.
  • Do not authorize the use of identifiable images, videos, or personal information of minors for commercial or promotional purposes without the legally required consent and appropriate protective measures.
  • Promote respectful interactions with local communities and avoid practices that expose minors to risks, humiliation, or exploitation.
  • When a service is intended for minors or involves their participation, seek to establish appropriate supervision, coordination with their legal guardians, and risk-prevention measures suited to the activity.
  • Require all staff and suppliers to maintain professional and respectful conduct at all times.

The participation of minors in mountain activities must be assessed according to their age, physical condition, the risks involved, the supervision required, and applicable regulations. Minors must never be used to perform hazardous duties associated with tourism operations.

6. Responsibilities of Staff and Suppliers

All RAMBLE PERÚ employees, guides, suppliers, and business partners must be familiar with and comply with this policy within the scope of their responsibilities.

We expect them to act responsibly, avoid any conduct that places minors at risk, and promptly report situations involving potential violations of children’s rights.

Where there are indications of non-compliance, RAMBLE PERÚ will assess appropriate measures. These may include suspending an activity, terminating a business relationship, removing an individual from duties related to the case, and reporting the matter to the competent authorities, as appropriate and in accordance with applicable law.

7. Reporting and Responding to Potential Violations

Any employee, supplier, client, or other person who becomes aware of potential prohibited child labour, sexual exploitation, abuse, or human trafficking involving minors should promptly notify RAMBLE PERÚ and, where appropriate, the competent authorities.

In response to a situation of concern, we undertake to:

  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of the child or adolescent.
  • Take reasonable and safe steps to remove the child from immediate exposure to risk, whenever possible.
  • Report the facts to the competent authorities without delay, in accordance with applicable legal obligations.
  • Avoid recklessly confronting the person allegedly responsible or conducting interviews that could harm the victim or compromise an investigation.
  • Protect the identity and personal information of the minor and prevent the disclosure of images or details relating to the case.
  • Cooperate with the authorities and responsibly preserve relevant information without interfering with investigations.

In the event of immediate danger, emergency services or the competent authorities must be contacted. Internal reporting does not replace any legally required report or notification.

8. Communication, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement

RAMBLE PERÚ is committed to communicating this policy to its staff, suppliers, and clients through its communication channels and appropriate awareness-raising activities.

We will also promote periodic reviews of our procedures, staff awareness, and improvements to our preventive measures, in line with current legislation and the nature of our operations.

This policy expresses RAMBLE PERÚ’s institutional commitment to responsible, safe, ethical tourism that respects human rights.

At RAMBLE PERÚ, protecting children and adolescents is a shared responsibility and a fundamental condition for sustainable tourism.
